It's more than just a meal.
Meals on Wheels has been guided by a single goal since the first known U.S. delivery by a small group of Philadelphia citizens in 1954 – to support our senior neighbors to extend their independence and health as they age.
What started as a compassionate idea has grown into one of the largest and most effective social movements in America, proudly serving Pennsylvania for over 60 years.
Together we can deliver.
Did you know that one in five Americans is 60 or older, and every day, millions of seniors in need of extra support rely on Meals on Wheels for nutrition and a friendly visit from a volunteer who cares. But more seniors are waiting, in need of our services. Find out how you can help.
Keeping seniors safe during Covid-19
Vulnerable seniors are at the greatest risk amid COVID-19. Local Meals on Wheels programs are on the front lines every day, focused on doing all they can to keep older Americans safe and nourished in communities across the country. In fact, a new survey conducted by Meals on Wheels America reveals that programs are now serving an average of 47% more seniors than they were March 1, when concerns over COVID-19 and social distancing measures began taking hold. The pulse survey also found that 97% of local Meals on Wheels programs have seen costs rise, particularly due to the need to acquire safety supplies and deliver more meals to each senior amid uncertainty.
